The type of care that an addict receives depends on many factors. These factors include severity of addiction, length of time on the addiction, method
of use, social support network, motivation, number of times in treatment, and living enivornment.
Because of these factors, no one method of treatment works for each individual. Below are the following types of treatment available:
Outpatient care -
This method allows a person to apply what they have learned in residential treatment into their everyday life, as they do not live in the residential treatment
setting. Patients are allowed to still work and perform regular social activities as usual.
Detoxification and Medical Stabilization - This form of treatment stablizes the patient medically and rids the body (cleanses) of all harmful drugs
and alcohol. It prepares a person for long-term recovery.
Residential Care - This is the all-inclusive form of recovery that involves all aspects of recovery -- medically, socially, pyschologically, everything. The patient
lives in the residential treatment center for anywhere from 30 days to several months.
Aftercare - Care that is provided by the treatment center long after their initial treatment. Aftercare focuses on preventing relapse, developing or redeveloping daily living and social skills, and more.
